CCTV with sewer lateral inspections provide TV images of mainline and lateral pipe interiors
Inspecting sewer service laterals is paramount when directional drilling is scheduled for the installation of utility lines, and where past drilled utilities (gas or telecommunication) may have penetrated the lateral. Not locating sewer laterals in advance creates the risk of utility lines being installed through existing wastewater infrastructure. National Underground Group’s lateral launch sewer inspection provides assessment of all pipe types, including mainline and lateral pipes, through closed-circuit television (CCTV) images.
Mobility within the pipe is provided by self-steering robotic crawlers, all-terrain crawlers and track-mounted systems. Inspections are carried out by extending a CCTV camera from the robotic transporter within the mainline and up the lateral. The camera system has an extension capability of up to 100 feet and carries a transmitter that enables the location and depth of a lateral line to be monitored from the surface. During the process, every inch of the infrastructure network, from the mainline through the length of a lateral, is inspected for dangerous gas utility line cross bores, pipe degradation and structural issues.
