A member of the National Underground Group’s family of service lines, Benchmark delivers best-in-class damage prevention solutions to utility companies and municipalities. Benchmark provides underground locating services through established 811 on-call contracts and private utility-locating services for utilities, municipalities, contractors and homeowners. Its differentiated Single Source Damage Prevention Program delivers industry-leading accuracy ratios, on-time ticket responses and exceptional customer service. Its Single Source locating model means the company locates for one customer within a given group of locators and supervisors. By not layering multiple utilities and customers on top of each other, Benchmark is able to offer customers a professional service with quality locating, on time.
Benchmark provides a full spectrum of outsourced asset damage prevention services and solutions to electric, gas, water, sewer, cable and telecom companies.
For any type of excavation, it is required nationally by law to call 811 before you dig. By calling 811 at least a few days before you start any digging project, you can avoid costly mistakes and stay away from underground utilities. The purpose of the law is to protect lives and the infrastructure of the utility.
We specialize in locating underground utilities that are not covered by 811, including oil and gas pipelines, water, communication, electric, wastewater and fiber optic.
Private utility locating services are needed because public utility companies only locate facilities they own. For example, they are responsible for only locating a utility from the main to the meter. From the meter to the building (house, office, etc.), the utility is privately owned and is the responsibility of the property owner to have the utility marked at that point.
Beyond locating, Benchmark offers a suite of proactive solutions in support of safe digging, including watch protect and specialized site services at high-risk excavations.
GPR is a nondestructive, geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface. Benchmark uses GPR to detect subsurface objects, changes in material properties, and voids and cracks.
